We want to share something that has both touched us and made us proud!
As part of our environmental work, we at Rely IT have been out in Norrtälje picking up rubbish. We do this within the framework of our ISO certified work, but also because we care about the place where we live and work.
What impressed us the most was that in less than an hour we collected 1300 cigarette butts together. 1300 tiny traces of a behaviour that many people may not think about, but which has a big impact on our environment. Each flick is an active choice to throw something on the ground, even though it takes a long time for nature to break down.
This raises an important point:
What if no one had to pick up rubbish at all? What if, instead, we took collective responsibility and stopped throwing from the start.
We are doing this to contribute to our great city, which is already working hard every day to keep it clean and cosy. At the same time, it is a way for us to continue to develop our own environmental work and put our values into practice.
Equally valuable was that we did it together. After working hours, as a joint activity, where we had the opportunity to socialise and do something meaningful. It strengthened both our community and our sense of actually being able to make a difference.
Small actions can have a big impact. But the biggest difference is made together, when we take responsibility from the start. We have done a lot of reading at Keep Sweden Tidy and are grateful for the work they do.
